「ΔDesignArt 2025 設計藝術展會」 學生作品徵件開跑

Unleash Your Creative Pairing! “ΔDesignArt 2025” Design and Art Exhibition Student Artwork Open call for Free Entries Begins - Selected Participants Get Free Exhibition Space to Showcase Their Unique Ideas to the World

Step onto the stage of creativity and explore the intersection of design and art! The “ΔDesignArt” exhibition, held in 2024 at Hotel Royal-The Place Taipei, is Taiwan’s first exhibition dedicated to the designer’s perspective. Collaborating with DesignSurfing, the event uses the delta (Δ) symbol to represent variables that exist between design and art, offering endless possibilities for creation. This innovative concept, set in the immersive environment of a hotel, blurs the lines between daily life and artistic imagination.

ΔDesignArt 2025 will return from May 9 to May 11, inviting students to submit their artwork under the theme “Pairing.” The call for entries is open online until April 13 (Sunday). Selected participants will receive free exhibition space at The Place Taipei and gain opportunities to network with industry professionals and buyers from Taiwan and around the world, potentially opening doors to the international market.

Open Call for Student Entries:Reinterpret “Pairing” and Experiment with Unexpected Art & Design Combinations!

In the modern creative landscape, the boundaries between design and art are increasingly blurred. Hosted by The Place Taipei and curated by DesignSurfing, ΔDesignArt applies the mathematical symbol Δ (Delta) as a concept to explore how materiality, printing, digital media, speculation, and craftsmanship create innovative possibilities at the intersection of design and art. The exhibition also supports Taiwanese designers and students by encouraging the development of experimental works that can enter the collectible design market, promoting the growth of Taiwan’s design gallery scene.

In its 2024 debut, the exhibition adopted the theme “Spectrum,” using hotel rooms to showcase a diverse range of works from craft, printing, bookbinding, floral art, and experimental design. Building on that success, ΔDesignArt 2025 will explore the concept of “Pairing,” inspired by the culinary art of food and wine pairings. Just as flavors evolve and surprise the palate, the pairing of artists, designers, materials, and techniques will create imaginative and unpredictable outcomes.

The event’s main visual design conveys the theme through a sensory experience, combining monochrome and purple tones to evoke a sense of experimentation and futurism. Hand-drawn illustrations and symbols represent the blending of perception and creativity, encouraging visitors to discover new artistic values and experiences.

Industry Leaders’ Insights

The Place Taipei’s Operation Director, Hong Yu-Jhen, stated, "Pairing is a symphony of creativity. Perhaps design students could collaborate with students from culinary arts, architecture, or other fields, creating fantastical and vibrant collisions!" She also encouraged students not just to step out of their comfort zones but to expand them, embracing diverse perspectives with flexibility and inclusivity.

Chad Liu, the founder of DesignSurfing, eagerly expressed, "Whether it’s the collaboration between people, the fusion of materials, or cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural exchanges, we’re excited to see how students interpret the concept of 'Pairing'!"

Just like a perfect pairing of food and wine that surprises and delights, ΔDesignArt is excited to see how students mix and match to create their own imaginative pairings.

Expanding Visibility for Student Creators

ΔDesignArt opens doors for students to gain broader visibility. Focused on collectible and issue-driven design, the exhibition serves as a springboard for young creators to step into the art and design world. Looking back at the 2024 exhibition, international curators, including Aoki Akio, the Director of DESIGNART TOKYO, praised the student work, elevating their visibility on a global stage.

ΔDesignArt 2025 will continue this momentum, encouraging creators to explore diverse themes and expand their artistic boundaries. Aligning with The Place’s mission to elevate Taiwan’s cultural scene, the exhibition aims to become a major platform for students to express their creative visions.

This year, ΔDesignArt will also connect with events like the YODEX and Taipei Dangdai on May, further establishing Taipei’s Nangang District as a vibrant design and art hub. Students are invited to join and let ΔDesignArt be their voice on the international stage!
